Amanda Palmer, ex-Dresdendolls, in haar performance
"who killed Amanda Palmer" was een ware happening.
Drama, passie, power. Amanda heeft het allemaal. Energiek en duidelijk zin in een laatste lange podium avond sloot ze haar
Europese tour in Tilburg af. Een bijzonder en intiem optreden. Veel interactie met het publiek, veel mooie songs en veel verrassende 'onderbrekingen' zoals het on-stage eten van chocolade letters, een on-stage veiling van de decorstukken, waaronder Amanda's electric blanket ("i'm sorry there is beer all over") en een rondgang met de pet voor de meereizende artiesten ("because we all where streetartist we don't have any difficulty with this" :-)
Verder werd een songtekst van Bon Jovi geanalyseerd (living on a prayer?), publieks vragen " Ask Amanda" beantwoord (why i use a Mac?/what drives me?) Radioheads song 'Creep' fluisterzacht voorgedragen en door het publiek meegehumd, en natuurlijk veel nieuw eigen werk waaronder het prachtige " the point of it all " en blake says
Amanda is wat je noemt een podiumdier. Live verbluffend goed. En "very good in SAD". Zingt kwetsbaar over (persoonlijke)gevoelens van verlies en pijn of over het Columbine drama waar de namen van de neergeschoten kinderen worden voorgelezen. Zwiept dan weer (ogenschijnlijk moeiteloos) met een mantra-achtige verbindingszin 'let it go' naar een volgend nummer vol vrolijke gekte. Een show van Amanda is een 'flow' op wisselstroom, ontwapenend en brutaal, ingetogen en expressief. En bovenal authentiek en recht uit het hart. Het publiek wordt alle kanten op gesmakt en kan zich uiteindelijk alleen staande houden door maximaal met haar mee te buigen. Zeldzaam goed. Amanda for president.
